Detak Media — After a series of delays and cancellations, Xiaomi appears poised to make a significant comeback in the foldable smartphone market. Enthusiasts who have been eagerly awaiting the company’s next foldable device may finally have reasons to be optimistic. Recent leaks reveal a new model that could redefine Xiaomi’s approach, combining cutting-edge technology with a fresh branding strategy.
Unlike previous foldables, which followed the MIX Fold naming convention, this upcoming device might adopt a new title, signaling a shift in Xiaomi’s product lineup. The latest details also suggest an advanced camera system that could set new standards for foldable smartphones.
New Codename and Launch Timeline Suggest Rebranding
The device, currently codenamed “pecan”, carries the model number 26023PN08C. The presence of “PN” within the model number indicates it may belong to Xiaomi’s primary series, rather than the traditional “PX” designation used for the MIX series. This hints that the foldable might debut as the Xiaomi 17 Fold instead of the MIX Fold 6, a logical progression given that Xiaomi skipped the MIX Fold 5.

While previous foldable launches typically occurred in June, this model is expected to arrive in February 2026. Additionally, the model number P18S points to a satellite-enabled version, with the “S” likely standing for satellite connectivity. Notably, there is no evidence of a standard P18 model, raising the possibility that Xiaomi may release only the satellite-capable variant.
As with many of Xiaomi’s top-tier devices, this foldable is expected to focus initially on the Chinese market.
Advanced Camera System Aligns with Latest Xiaomi Innovations

The camera setup on the “pecan” foldable is particularly striking and resembles the configuration leaked earlier for the MIX Flip 3. The device is anticipated to feature the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, underpinning its flagship status.
Camera specifications include:
- Main Camera: 200MP sensor (Samsung S5KHP5)
- Ultra-Wide Camera: 50MP (OmniVision OV50M)
- Secondary Front Camera: 50MP (OmniVision OV50M)
- Front Camera: 16MP (OmniVision OV16F)
This 200MP main sensor represents a major leap for foldable devices, emphasizing Xiaomi’s ambition to push the boundaries of mobile photography. However, the company appears to have removed the telephoto lens from this model, possibly to optimize design or focus on other photographic capabilities.
